The Latin Program at RHS

Courses
Williamson County Schools uses the Ecce Romani series, widely used in the United States. Students begin their journey in Latin in the town of Baiae in the Bay of Naples area not long after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Our family the Cornelii eventually will "get out of the ditch" and make it to Rome. By Latin III, students are reading authentic passages from Caesar, Cicero, Catullus, etc. Students may take up to four years of Latin. The National Latin Exam is given every year, as well as the Classical Association of the Middle, West, and South Translation Contest and various other classically themed national tests. The TJCL convention occurs in the spring. Fourth year Latin is Advanced Placement Latin. Students are also able to take the SAT II: Latin test.
