The Latin Program at RHS

Courses
Rutherford County Schools uses the Cambridge Latin Course, the most popular textbook in Great Britain and widely used in the United States. Students begin their journey in Latin in Pompeii prior to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Alexandria and Roman Britain are also visited, and of course, all roads leads to Rome. Students may take up to four years of Latin. The National Latin Exam is given every year, as well as the Classical Association of the Middle, West, and South Translation Contest. The TJCL convention occurs in the spring. Fourth year Latin is Advanced Placement Latin. Students are also able to take the SAT II: Latin test. Latin for the New Millenium was adopted for 2010-11. This is an all new textbook developed by Bolchazy-Carducci.
