About the RHS JCL
The Riverdale High School JCL has a long tradition of academic achievement and service to Rutherford County. The RHS JCL chapter rose to prominence in the early 90's under teacher Virginia Peak and even hosted the TJCL convention during that decade. Today's RHS JCL is proud to carry on the traditions of the Warriors Latin program. The school participates in all major Latin related activities around the state, including University of Tennessee Latin Day, the National Latin Exam, the CAMWS Latin translation contest, the Medusa Mythology Exam, TJCL convention, and we are planning to begin attending NJCL in 2011.
Members, Officers, and Sponsor
The sponsor of the RHS JCL is Mr. Jason Nabors. A veteran teacher with more than a decade of teaching experience to his credit, Mr. Nabors rolled into Murfreesboro in 2008 with his strong West Tennessee JCL reputation. For the last six years straight, Nabors' Latin programs have ranked in the top five of their division at the TJCL. He received the 2009 Tennessee Classical Association Distinguished Latin Teaching Award. He is also the adjunct instructor of Latin at MTSU. This year's RHSJCL officers are President Sarah Baker, Vice-President Abby Duke, and Secretary-Historian Cheryl-ann Whitaker.
